Over 500 buildings within the city are designated as an historic district by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Trust in 2009 honored Mineral Point as one of the nation's Dozen Distinctive Destinations.

Historic 1830's log cabin, Mineral Point's oldest standing structure, is located on the campus of Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts, just a block from Longbranch Gallery. Shake Rag Alley offers a wide range of year round workshops in traditional, visual, literary, and performance arts. The Center also offers a vibrant children's program and free summer camp.
